Essence of Landscape Exhibition

The Artist's Wall in the Cafe

Linda Hajdukiewicz has a new solo exhibition opening on 2nd March at the Plough, Great Torrington, on the Artist's Wall in the venue's cafe. The show, 'Essence of Landscape' runs 2nd-29th March 2009. This is Linda's first solo exhibition for over two years, and shows an entirely new side to her work – with most works seen here for the very first time. Thirteen new works are on display.

Linda is well-known in North Devon for her flower paintings in bold acrylics, which she has exhibited widely in major shows (RHS Tatton Park, for example) and also in private galleries across the county. Her new work reflects a more subtle and illustrational side to her work, with a series of pastel works of stylised landscapes on show at the Plough. The show ' Essence of Landscape' reflects a return to earlier themes in her artistic life, when she worked as a greetings card illustrator.

Linda says: "I look for the raw essentials of the landscape, and am often attracted to extremes of season or weather. For example, skeletal trees against dark skies, shafts of sunlight on a bleak day. This drama in the landscape is extremely powerful and I aim to convey this quiet strength in these new works."

Linda's new work in pastels has also been compared to book illustrations - again this is a return to familiar territory for Linda, who worked as a Commissioning Editor for a Publisher for some years, commissioning a number of illustrated works.

The exhibition 'Essence of Landscape' runs from 2nd March to 29th March 2009 - opening times 10am -10pm Tuesday – Saturday. For further details ring the Plough on: 01805 624624 .
